  Why do we get stumbled out of JW's because of imperfect people?

  i see this a lot on this forum, loads of people saying they left jw's because of "hypocritical ....... ( put elder, pioneer, couple, sister, brother, governing body) here.. but?.

  why would you expect any man-run organisation if you believe the bible, to have to be perfect and not be full of imperfect people that will come across as hypocritical?.

  the bible examples from israelites onwards name anyone :- moses, king david, pharasees, paul the one thing the bible doesn't do is white-wash them it shows that however much we follow the laws we are always fighting our own imperfection usually failing every time and needing to be corrected sometimes punished (moses had to give-up chance of seeing the foretold land), so why do we hold this against jw's as a reasons not to be a jw's anymore?.

  I don't fall in the category of "stumbled out of JW's because of imperfect people". Perhaps it was partly the case. I agree with other reasons many have already noted. Particularly as yknot said:

  'spiritual paradise' is a scam

  To simplify and keep to the "God's Organization" theme, even when I was still a believer, I was completely confused by one simple truth. Why has every 'organization' of God failed so miserably and so quickly?

  Then the questions: Can't Jesus, the great teacher and miracle-worker, make it a little more apparent that he's blessing these 'true worshipers'? Even after the big A, won't these 'perfectized' people also need to be 'lobotomized' to get along as well as WTBTS promises?

  Local needs: 40% of the congregation are irregular at meetings

  well, our local needs talk was a bit out of the ordinary - normally it's something mundane like improving bible studies.. after harping on about the good things the congregation is doing, we got to the meat.. there are 100 publishers in the cong - 40% of them are irregular meeting attenders.. the elder said that those who are irregular at meetings are also irregular on field service.. he also said the elders would continue to shepherd these ones, yet most of us never get as shepherding call.. he said that those who've lost their joy feel this way because they don't fellowship often enough and lack appreciation for sacred things.. there are those who are liberal, manifest an independent spirit and have worldly associations.. he even said that those who need to hear this counsel are those who are missing.. .

  oh well.

  i suppose it's good news..

  Excellent point Gayle:

  'Frequency' of mind control it a strong tactic of cult success.

  Since they don't believe that they are a cult, they don't realize how they are dramatically losing grip on their sheeple. Reducing the meetings, changing "this generation", telling visitors how to dress when at Bethel, and harping over-and-over on convention rooming/seat-saving/parking/dress/etc., they think it will help, but it won't.

  Reasons for change in meetings and book study

  there were already a few topics and posts about the motifs behind the changes, but i think we can unite them all in just one topic.. for a start i will say thar the letter that is going to be read next weekend, says that gb wants to reduce the burden (quotes acts 15:28), and adds that in many countries the gas (petroleum) is at a very high cost for some families.

  then it makes a suggestion to use the same day for study at home with family.. of course that the text of hebrew 10:25 is not quoted!

  - if we are more close to the end it should be taken the opposite measure!.

  Yep Gary, those were the good ole days that the WTBTS still yearns for. Gathering up all that loose change into Brooklyn, dubs blindly following the mantra, "the end is soooo close". Those days are over.

  The change won't accommodate field circus if it starts in January around here. After 5pm it's cold, dark, and people will really think JWs are stuuuupid to be out doorknocking. And as the pattern starts then, so it will continue through the year.

  Similarly, when the Pubic Talks were shortened to 30 min, they said it would allow the extra time for field circus. I haven't seen any increases related to that change. The only increase in activity locally was with the memorial tract campaign. Service was dumbed down so much that even Bubbles the Smoking Chimp could aux. pioneer by throwing scraps of paper at houses.

  I think this is an admission that they're losing grip from top to bottom, which will only weaken further without the direct attention and responsibility of the CBSOs.

  Bottom Line: What Does This New Meeting Arrangement Really Mean?

  The 'simplification' to 2 meetings, along with shortening the Pubic Talk, will mean more congregations can use one KH. Fewer KHs mean mo' money for the WTBTS. Also, since the 'friends' no longer need to drive that extra night, they can donate mo' money to the WTBTS. Yep, Bethelites and GB members will have to drive less, too... mo' money saved.

  In conclusion, this new meeting arrangement really means that the organization is functioning as poorly as a clogged crapper at a Home Book Study location bathroom. The Holy Spirit is helpless to assist the R&F to afford gasoline. The book studies are so poorly attended, poorly conducted, and the books so poorly written, that they're trying to get rid of the Book Study arrangement without actually getting rid of the Book Study. Also, it means that they realise that the Theocraptic Misery Stool sucks and the Serve Us Meating blows.

  Who CONFIRMED the BIG announcement about the Book Study?

  this seems to be the topic of the week, if not this year.. out of the many points and countless threads about this topic, many have been speculative and of the reminiscing sort.

  i was wondering how many confirmations we have about this.

  there were only a few that sounded like confirmations that i found posted on this site.

  I can confirm also. I saw the letter.

  Only POs are supposed to know until Sunday. As noted a shortening and combining with TMS and SM to take effect Jan. 1, 2009.
